What is SCARF?

SCARF (Supporting Children And Responding to Families) is a comprehensive case management system that aims to promote the well-being of children and families.

SCARF provides an integrated set of tools and procedures, which guide the process of family support service delivery to children and their families, from first contact to closure.

SCARF On Line Learning can be accessed by staff working for organizations which have an End User Agreement to use SCARF. For more information about using SCARF use the SCARF link above.

What is SCARF Online Learning?

SCARF Online Learning has been developed:

  • to assist new staff so that they can start learning about SCARF as part of their orientation
  • to provide a flexible alternative to face to face training, which allows staff to plan their time to meet their individual learning needs
  • to support staff step by step through the process of using SCARF, especially through the checklists which can be used as often as needed to review practice and help staff gain confidence in the use of the SCARF tools.

What’s Covered In SCARF Online Learning?

MODULE 1

Module One is an introduction to SCARF. It covers the values and principles, introduces the tools and key concepts, and looks at how to use SCARF with families. Module One is a good starting point for people who are new to the agency, or where agencies are introducing SCARF to services.

Module One will take about two hours to complete in total.

MODULE 2

Module Two covers each of the SCARF tools in detail. It is intended for staff who are about to use the tools with families, or who want to review their use of specific tools.





Module Two will take five to six hours to complete in total.

MODULE 3

Module Three looks at a range of challenging situations in family work, and identifies ways in which SCARF can be used to support good practice and positive outcomes for children.




Module Three will take about two and half hours to complete in total.
